UFC contender Alexa Grasso is a force to be reckoned with in the women's flyweight division after her first bout saw her score a resounding victory against former champion Ji Yeon Kim at UFC Fight Night 175 on Saturday night.
The 27-year-old was able to overwhelm Kim with her quick striking ability. She landed 20 more shots than the former champion and looked like she was on a different tempo throughout the entire bout.
Grasso has always been someone that looked ready to take the leap, and her switch to the flyweight division could provide her a boost in doing so. While she showed moments of potential in the strawweight division, she struggled to find consistency. She went 3-3 since debuting with the company with an undefeated 8-0 record in 2016.
Grasso believes she is a perfect fit for the 125-pound division. “The only thing I want to prove clear is that I belong here and I belong at the top of the division,” Grasso said. “I’m here to prove that every time I step in the Octagon.”
Grasso is currently ranked 14th in the women’s flyweight rankings. Do you think she has what it takes to climb the leaderboard? Let us know in the comment section below!
