Four Illinois natives are scheduled to fight on UFC Fight Night Vegas this Saturday, June 19th.
Curtis Blaydes, who is the #3 ranked fighter in the heavyweight class, will be fighting in the events main event against #7 ranked Alexander Volkov. Blaydes was born in Naperville, Illinois, and has spent most of his life in the Chicagoland area. With his performance on Saturday night, Blaydes could be the top contender for Daniel Miocic’s heavyweight championship.
Fellow Chicago native Belal Muhammad also has a fight on the main card, where he will be taking on Lyman Good at the event. The welterweight brawler spent much of his life in the Chicagoland area before attending college at the University of Illinois-Champaign before pursuing a career in the MMA.
38-year-old Clay Guida, who was born in Round Lake, Illinois, will also be fighting at the event. Guida will be fighting in the prelims in a lightweight bout against Bobby Green on Saturday. The lightweight veteran, who has faced some of the biggest names the sport has ever seen, was a three-sport athlete at Johnsburg High School before attending nearby Harper College.
Finally, Sterling, Illinois native Austin Hubbard, will be fighting Max Rohskopf in a prelim matchup at the event. The 28-year-old moved to Denver from Illinois after college and joined Elevation Fight Team, a career move that increased his exposure greatly.
