Antônio Rogério Nogueira and Maurício Rua will face off in the co-main event at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 174 on Saturday night.
The two light heavyweights are very familiar with one another, as this is the third time that they have gone head-to-head in The Octagon. Rua won on both occasions by unanimous decision, but Nogueira still looked extremely impressive in each bout.
The two first fought in the Quarterfinal round of the 2005 Pride Middleweight Grand Prix. The second bout took place a decade later at the UFC 190 pay-per-view, in a match that went on to win the Fight of the Night award.
The third matchup between the two brawlers was originally scheduled for UFC 250, but the plans were called off when Nogueira experienced issues with his visa when the venue was switched to Abu Dhabi.
The veterans are two of the longest-tenured fighters on the UFC roster. Both men have been with the company for over a decade and fighting professionally since the early 2000s.
Will 44-year-old Nogueria finally be able to get the monkey off his back and beat Rua in his last professional fight?
