Fury to not fight Wilder a third time in 2020

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder were unable to reach a satisfying agreement for a 2020 rematch.

Tyson Fury defeated Deontay Wilder on February 22, 2020 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The two men were coming off of the heels of their previous bout that ended in a stalemate. Not long after the fight was over, it was rumored that Wilder was going to use his rematch clause in the fight contract to have another shot at beating Fury. The third clash was originally scheduled to take place in July, but it was inevitably pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The clash has since been pushed back multiple times, and it was recently reported that it will not take place until 2021. With the two camps being unable to come to a consensus on a future date, the planning of the contest is seemingly being put on hold. Fury, meanwhile, has his sights set on his next potential matchup.

“I would just like to announce that I am definitely fighting December 5 in London, opponent to be announced very, very soon,” Fury said in a video posted on his social media channels. “(We are) just working on some opponents and will let you all know who it is going to be shortly. Watch this space.”

Fury fighting in London will be the first time he fights in the city since his victory over Christian Hammer at The O2 Arena on February 28, 2015.

The question on everyone’s mind is who Fury will fight in December?

While there is no definite answer to this question at this point, one of the clear favorites is German fighter Agit Kabayel. Kabayel has a undefeated record of 20-0, and has already knocked out his opponents 13 times. He previously beat Derek Chisora, who is also currently hoping for a third fight against Fury.

Regardless of who is next up for Fury, they will have a tall task ahead of them against one of the greatest fighters to ever lace up their boots.
