Masvidal’s Nightmare

Welterweight champ Kamaru Usman lived up to his montikor -- The Nigerian Nightmare -- with a 3rd round TKO against Gilbert Burns. Despite winning the fight, what Usman said about Jorge Masvidal in his post fight interview with Joe Rogan was the highlight of the night.
“We got this little street thug.. thinkin’ he’s Jesus. Any of these fools can get it, but if he keeps running his mouth -- if he is going to talk -- he has gotta step in here and see me,” Usman said.
Usman defeated Masvidal in UFC 251 last July by unanimous decision. The consensus agreed that the short notice (6 days) hindered Masvidal’s performance.
But Usman doesn’t care about excuses.
“The only reason he took the fight was because he had a built in excuse,” Usman said. “I will give you a whole training camp and I guarantee you won’t sign on the dotted line because this time I am gonna finish your ass,” Usman said.
Masvidal’s co-manager Malki Kawa said via twitter that Masvidal would accept Usman’s challenge.
Usman’s manager Ali Abdelaziz told ESPN, “it’s what Kamaru wants and Jorge deserves a full camp. But he and his team better be on their best behavior. We already beat them up inside and out of [the] cage.”
A Usman/Masvidal pay-per-view ticket certainly would be financially beneficial. It’s only a matter of time before these two veterans get to hash out their beef.
Masvidal responded to Usman’s threats by mocking Usman for his ‘hug and toe stomp’ strategy. He even added a nose emoji, hinting at Usman’s claim that he had suffered a broken nose two weeks before he fought Masvidal at UFC 251.
The animosity and anticipation has hit a boiling point, and it seems almost a certainty that these two will have a deal in the near future.
