It does not come as too much of a shock that Manny Pacquiao(62-7-2, 39KOs) has returned to boxing. Pacquiao announced that he would face off against the undefeated IBF and WBC welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr.(27-0, 21KOs). The fight took place at the MGM Grand, although Pacquiao stated that he'd prefer it to be at the Allegiant Stadium, which can seat 70,000 people.

The fight was announced by Pacquiao online on social media, which sent fans into a frenzy as to many people; this announcement came out of nowhere with little or no fanfare.

Spence is currently undefeated with 27 wins, and this would be a big fight for the champion as beating the legendary Pacquiao even at this late stage of his career. This fight may very well be the last bout of Pacquaio's career, as the fighter himself has said in an interview with The Athletic.

"I love to challenge the top guy," Pacquiao told The Athletic.

Manny Pacquiao’s promotions president Sean Gibbons told ESPN, "Many people believe Spence is the best welterweight in the world and one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, and Pacquiao has never shied away from fighting real fights.

He's not going to make a fool of himself fighting YouTubers or social media guys like Floyd Mayweather is, and he wants to continue his legacy. He's always fought the best, and he doesn't want to change now."

Pacquiao has not fought since Jul. 2019 when he defeated Keith Thurman for the WBA super welterweight title. Pacquiao won by way of a split decision but has since then vacated this belt.
