Veteran Derek Brunson (21-7) will face off against surging newcomer Kevin Holland (21-5) on March 20 in the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Holland had a huge 2020, fighting five times and winning four by knockout. Holland has been in the UFC since 2018 when he fought on Dana White’s Contender Series where he made a somewhat infamous impression on the UFC President by talking through the whole fight instead of trying to get the finish. The man nicknamed “Trailblazer” was given the new nickname “Loudmouth” by Dana himself.
Since his debut however, Holland has fought eleven times in the UFC and has only lost twice. His last win came against veteran Jacare Souza on December 12 by knockout.
The man he will face off against on March 20 is veteran Derek Brunson, who is trying to prove himself as a contender for the 185 Middleweight strap. Brunson is currently the #7 ranked Middleweight in the world by the UFC. Holland on the other hand is ranked the #10 Middleweight in the world.
Brunson has respect for Holland but doesn’t think that his skillset will be comparable to his own. Brunson also stated that he will rely on his experience fighting top middleweights like Israel Adesanya, Robert Whittaker, and Yoel Romero.
