Tyson Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, told ESPN the challenge from Anthony Joshua has been accepted and all four major heavyweight titles will be on the line.

According to Warren, the fight will take place sometime during the summer of 2021—outside of the United Kingdom, due to the UK’s Covid restrictions.

Warren has mentioned Saudi Arabia as a possible venue, while Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearns has said somewhere in the Middle East. Hearns did mention that a possible rematch clause may be in place, possibly so the two could one day face off again somewhere in the UK.

Warren told ESPN that he believes the fight could be worth over $200 million, which would make it the first boxing match not involving Floyd Mayweather to gross $200 million (2017 vs. McGregor ($275 million) & 2015 vs. Pacquiao ($250 million)).

Tale of the Tape

Joshua stands 6-foot-6, with an 82-inch reach. He is 24-1 with 22 knockouts in his professional career and currently holds the IBF, WBO and WBA titles after recently defeating Kubrat Pulev in December.

Tyson Fury stands 6-foot-9, with an 85-inch reach. He is 29-0-1 with 20 knockouts in his professional career and claimed the WBC belt by defeating Deontay Wilder a year ago. The two had previously fought to a draw, the only blemish on Fury’s record. It was speculated that Fury might give Wilder a chance at redemption in 2021, but that has yet to gain the necessary traction for it to happen.

Joshua is looking to recapture the spotlight after his devastating loss to Andy Ruiz by handing Fury his first professional loss. This fight may become the start of an incredible series featuring the two best heavyweight boxers of the era.
